A’ja Wilson’s A’One Storytelling Campaign & What’s Next for the A’Two | Nike Women’s Signature Shoes (2026)

A’ja Wilson's Signature Shoe: More Than Just Sneakers, It's a Powerful Narrative!

Remember the iconic Nike commercials of the 80s and 90s? They weren't just ads; they were captivating stories that forged a deep connection with athletes. Nike is bringing that magic back with A’ja Wilson's signature shoe, the A’One, and its upcoming successor, the A’Two.

The A’One Campaign: A Masterclass in Storytelling
The commercials for Wilson's A’One shoe have been hailed as some of the best in recent memory. Why? Because they brilliantly weave together her personal journey – from her upbringing to her rise as a WNBA superstar – with a playful, remixed version of the classic children's hand game, "Miss Mary Mack." This approach beautifully captures her essence and resonates deeply with audiences.

Shifting the Sneaker Landscape
For too long, the sneaker world was largely a male-dominated arena, with women's contributions often reduced to a simple pink colorway. Thankfully, that’s changing! We're seeing more women receive signature shoes, and the women's game is soaring in popularity. Wilson's A’One shoe is a prime example, offering a platform to share the story of a young, Black girl's life in a way that connects with today's youth.

Wilson's Vision for the A’Two
Wilson is eager to continue this narrative with her second signature shoe, the A’Two. She shared in an exclusive interview with The Athletic, "I think that’s a beautiful thing when you have a company that is willing to figure you out and be like, ‘Now how can we present you as your true, unapologetic self to the people?'" She believes Nike truly captured this with the A’One, stating, "I think we executed it perfectly, literally back home. … Those small pieces go a long way, and I think it’s something we haven’t really seen at Nike for a very long time."

A European Journey and the A’Two Release
Wilson is embarking on a European tour from Tuesday through Sunday to promote the A’Two, which is slated for release on May 2. Her first signature shoe, the A’One, was a massive success, selling out rapidly upon its initial release last May.

Connecting Beyond the Court
While the WNBA's collective bargaining agreement and the upcoming Unrivaled championship game are significant topics, Wilson's focus in Europe is on genuine connection. She expressed, "I’m so glad that I can go over there on nice, calm terms, because any other time, I’m playing for an Olympic gold medal or playing for something, and it’s like the stakes are high. I want to give people more so they can have things to really relate to me other than just watching me run up and down the basketball court. I’m super excited to go on this journey."

A Legacy of Excellence
On the court, Wilson continues to dominate, leading the Las Vegas Aces to another WNBA championship – her third with the team! She's made history, becoming the first player in the WNBA or NBA to achieve a championship, league MVP, Finals MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and a scoring title in the same season.

The Art of Merchandise: Telling Women's Stories
Wilson emphasizes the importance of telling women's stories, not just through their play but also through how their merchandise is presented. She's deeply involved in the details, contributing 99 percent of her input to her shoe designs, embedding hidden messages and ensuring authenticity.

"This isn’t something that we just slap a logo on or slap a name on, make it pink and say, ‘OK that’s a woman’s shoe,'" Wilson explained. "It’s more like let’s do a deep dive into these women and showcase why they are greater, what they do and why they deserve this signature shoe or this P.E. (player edition) or anything that they’re working on."

She added, "I think the storytelling is so key, particularly as to who we are and what people want to grab onto. I’m excited that we’re finally getting to showcase the love that we need and the respect that we’ve worked so hard to get."

Anticipating the A’Two's Narrative
Just as the A’One commercial aimed to be memorable, Wilson anticipates the A’Two's campaign will be a welcome challenge. She still gets a thrill seeing her shoes worn by others, including celebrities.

A Star-Studded Endorsement
A particularly memorable moment from last season was seeing Usher courtside in a pair of her A’Ones. "Someone that’s so big in Black culture and music culture as a whole is rocking the A’Ones, I think that was super cool to see," Wilson shared. While she beams with pride for anyone wearing her shoes, Usher's endorsement was a standout moment.

The Future of Storytelling
Expect the commercial for the A’Two to follow the narrative-driven approach of the A’One, unveiling a new chapter in Wilson's life. "I don’t know how we’re going to top it," she admitted, "but we’ve got some things."
